Traveling 2023-24
Event Management, Agriculture, Software Development
Traveling around the world for a while, I picked up numerous gigs to occupy my time by learning new skills and applying my existing ones in new fields.
Española, New Mexico, USA
Family vineyard
My days were spent picking grapes and apples, planting seedlings in the garden, mashing grapes to make wine, and preserving fruits (grapes, apples, pears) by dehydration and jamming.
Atelier de la Nature — Arnaudville, Louisiana, USA
Nature reserve emphasizing art and environmental education
I helped prepare for the big Halloween festival which involved applying creative methods for hoisting and mounting art work, painting signage, and decorating giant jelly fish. I also helped out day of as a runner, and with other small educational events hosted by the reserve including a French immersion school workshop with a French environmental author. I used a lot of French in Louisiana in general.
Tsukuyomi Farm — Awa, Tokushima, Japan
Organic farm
I helped pick carrots, lettuce, wasabi, kale, broccoli and daikon, and after they were cleaned and sorted I either applied compost to the fields or managed the burning of wood and rice hulls to create charcoal fertilizers.
Lew & Xavier Bakery — San Kamphaeng, Chiang Mai, Thailand
French bakery and permaculture farm
I soldered, programmed, and used a 3D printer to make enclosures for Arduino-based sensor systems used in cheese and bread fermentation. I also got to make bread a couple of times.
