I loved the brutality of this film. The utterly painful ends to which couples must go to achieve certainty, and the romantic totalitarianism that imposes upon people. It’s delicious. Otherwise it’s a very typically understated indie romcom, with a couple that has such quiet chemistry as to be mistaken for what they, on paper, are: coworkers.
The ending was beautiful, and unexpected, and horrid. I loved the almost Christian Apologist tone to it, the idea that for love to be love, lovers must be able to make mistakes. They must be able to venture into that land of uncertainty, of desire.
