This one was fun. It has a very superficial feel to it, especially at first. It features a twist, but the twist comes quite early. The film plays at one genre, a la Hereditary or Knives Out, when in fact it’s about something quite different. It builds tension until the twist, whence the rug is pulled out from under the audience, left in suspense for the conclusion as the details are slowly laid out to give still more gravity to the climax.
There were a lot of fun shots I noticed. The house itself gets many long and ponderous stretches of screen time, keeping the focus inward on the internal family drama, reminding the audience where the true danger lies.
