What an absurd film! I was in the right mood to enjoy the senseless plot, arbitrary diversions into the horror anthology genre, and pointless love triangle. The costume and set design were excellent, as were the puppets, also completely unnecessary. The film’s purpose in fact seems to be placing unnecessary elements before the audience, to the point of failing to really end or even complete some of the sub-narratives it launches. It seems somewhat in the vein of Rubber which, if you look closely as I just did, turns out to be by the very same Quentin Dupieux. It all makes a little more sense now.
