Suspiria

I’ve seen a lot of horror films. Something attracts me to the genre. This one is dripping with style, and you can tell early on: the music is amazing. The sound design (courtesy it seems as a byproduct of Italian film making back then; the dubbing confused the hell out of me and demanded some research) demanded my attention. Which was good as I caught very little of the story (the dubbing was perpetually distracting — I’ve heard you get used to it watching a lot of Italian cinema). The set designs were absolutely insane: do such places exist? It must have surely just been made for the film. Even the font dripped cool. The story is in no way impressive, and the kills were often impressively executed though not so exciting on paper. The whole thing held my attention so strongly, but from intensity rather than tension. Ah so cool.
