The Platform

Speaking of pliable allegories, this is too obvious. But it revels in that. It understands what it is and uses its self-awareness to function as a morality tale that ends on a note remarkably as comforting as Bong Joon Ho’s Snowpiercer. Loved it, just like Snowpiercer. It is however much more violent than Snowpiercer, and more comically aware during the violeent scenes without becoming cartoonish.

I can’t comment on the sound work at all because I barely heard anything courtesy of my air conditioning. #climateChangeRuinsMovies The camera work has interesting, even exciting moments but for most of the film it’s slow and only noticeable as a byproduct of noticing the quick cuts. Exploring the many proposed solutions to the question of How to Organize Society Equally, while borrowing cinematic elements of torture porn, psychedelia, and action films in a reasonable time demands quick jumps, and the editing makes them.

Honestly I feel like the way I’m desrcibing the film makes it sound more interesting than it actually is, even though I enjoyed it a great deal.
