You've Got Mail

Yet another romcom that’s not actually about the couple but the big wonderful city of New York in which they live. I expected this film to be very outdated by now, but it’s only slightly aged. The thrill the lovers experience awaiting one anothers' emails is no different from that I’ve experienced myself talking with a match met on a dating app, wondering if someday we may meet in real life, if the provided details, visual and biographical, will match up.

Supposedly the film is based on a Hungarian play, but I would have pegged it for Shakespeare: it practically replicates As You Like It’s scene of would-be lovers secretly, in cognito, explaining to one another how to seduce them.
